About Hakutsuru Brewing Company

Higashinada Ward, Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture is called "Nadagogo'' and has developed as a famous brewing area since ancient times. There are now many sake breweries that represent Japan, one of which is Hakutsuru Sake Brewery. The brand's origins date back to 1743 (Kanpo 3) during the Tokugawa Yoshimune era in the middle of the Edo period, when the founder, Jihei, a lumberman, set up a storehouse. It was named "Tsuru'' with the hope that it would be a sake that would still be loved 100 years from now, but since there were many similar brand names, it was changed to "Hakutsuru'' to distinguish it. Nada, located at the foot of Mt. Rokko, is blessed with the best conditions for sake brewing and boasts the highest volume of sake production in Japan, and became popular as "kudari sake'' sent from Kamigata to Edo. Hakutsuru Sake Brewery always responds to the needs of consumers through careful sake brewing, using only carefully selected raw materials, pioneering the use of 1-sho bottles, and releasing freshly stored sake. The company has developed the "Hakutsuru Nishiki'' sake rice variety, and is exploring new possibilities for sake rice by exchanging opinions with sake breweries across the country, and actively working to energize the sake industry as a whole. The Hakutsuru Sake Brewery Museum is located on the premises of the head office, where you can learn more about the long history of Hakutsuru Sake Brewery.
