Ryujin Brewing Company

With the rise of the ginjo sake boom in the 1980s, it quickly became a famous sake representing Gunma with its smart and sophisticated quality. The company has also attracted attention for its advanced initiatives, such as its early use of “Kyokai No. 13 yeast,” which at the time was a hybrid of “No. 9” and “No. 10” and was called “bio yeast.”
Since then, “Oze no Yukidoke” has been their main brand, and with the lifting of the local beer ban, they have also started producing beer under the same name (the brand name is “Ozeno Yukidoke” in katakana). During that time, the original “Ryujin” name has been sealed off, but now it has been revived in some areas and is now selling products under two brands.
The quality of the sake is generally decent, and despite the heavy use of Yamada Nishiki, the sake has a refreshing and light taste. Uokin is an izakaya that specializes in fish dishes, which started in Shinbashi, Tokyo, and now has locations throughout the city. Each of these stores offers a wide variety of “house salmon” products, and they boast stable popularity. (Haruo Matsuzaki)
